Does anyone find it a bit strange that on the day that the
Labour Party’s largest donor declares it has no faith in the party leadership
over its handling of the serious allegations that the trade union UNITE,
crammed the Falkirk constituency party with 100 or more members whose
subscriptions were paid by the union, some of them without their knowledge; apparently
in an effort to get their preferred candidate (Karie Murphy) elected; just
happened to coincide with the resignation of Labour MP Tom Watson, who stepped
down as Labour's deputy chairman and left the shadow cabinet.
His resignation also coincided with the fact that Mr
Miliband announced he was suspending two members of the Falkirk party. - the
constituency chairman Stephen Deans and Karie Murphy, who coincidentally happens
to be Mr Watson's office manager, who was UNITE’s favoured candidate for the
seat.
Labour said that there were allegations that the pair may
have been involved in a breach of Labour Party rules relating to
"potential abuse of membership rules".
It is also understood that Karie Murphy, (Tom Watson’s office
manager) also happens to have been an ally of UNITE general secretary Len
McCluskey.
This fiasco appears to be just the tip of the iceberg and
this latest row is believed to be part of a wider battle for influence between
New Labour and the avowedly Old Labour UNITE leadership.
Commenting on this situation, Lord Mandelson, writing in Scotland’s
Sunday Herald said recently that too many selections were "in the hands of
one union at worst or a couple at best".
What is now clear is that since the early 2000s, the trade
unions have been drifting further and further to the left.
Folks, the confrontation is coming and when it does, it
will define who runs the Labour party – Ed Miliband and the politicians, or the
trade unions.
Personally, whatever the outcome, I think young Ed’s time as the Labour leader is
nearing its end.
By the way, you may be interested to learn that 20 out of
Tameside’s 52 Labour councillors are also members of the powerful UNITE trade
Union!
Therefore, in the interest of clarity and transparency, it might be useful if these 20 councillors told us where they stand on this debate; so come the next time they are asking for our votes, we will be know whether we are voting for councillors who fully support Labour party policies or trade union directives.

Besides the Councillors in Unite check out the vastly over payed TMBC Executives in the Unite union.
ReplyDeleteIts one big cartel of self interested non effective clowns feeding their greed out of our pockets.

Whilst Britain is destroyed by the modern threats of mass immigration and the immigrant reproductive rate/overpopulation, our increasingly self-interested main parties fight decades old battles for their share of the power cake, either against themselves or each other.
ReplyDeleteWe need a major clearout politically before there's no identifiable Britain left.
Won't make the slightest difference.
ReplyDeleteIn the Peoples Democratic Republic of Tameside, most households are wholly or partly welfare dependent. Its people know who their paymasters are, and will keep voting for them no matter what........just so long as the welfare cash keeps coming.
Don`t forget the origins of Welfare Payments.

A WIDESPREAD REBELLION WITH MARCHES IS NOW THE ONLY WAY FOR
THE DECENT TAMESIDE FOLK TO ACT,ITS OUR RIGHT,OUR FUTURES AND OUR FUTURE GENERATIONS RIGHTS TO ENSURE REAL DEMONSTRATED DEMOCRACY IS INTRODUCED BACK INTO TAMESIDE.

"Tameside folk" will only march when their benefits are drastically cut, and until then will keep voting Labour to keep what they have.
DeleteThe only way to bring about change is through the ballot box and, given that barely 20% of the population even bother to get off their backsides to vote at local elections, says it all about the rest of so called "decent Tamside folk"
