'THINK OF ANOTHER WAY TO SCREW 'EM' |
Has there ever been, or will there ever be a time when ‘new
Government legislation’ is introduced that does not cost us any money?
I’m sure there must several ‘Government Think tanks’ manned
by armies of bureaucratic global practice leaders, specialising in diverse strategies,
going forward, which focus on relieving the burden on hard-working people and
their desire to keep their money!
Or to put it in plain English; staffed by brown nosed gits that
sit in some plush London office block thinking of more and more devious was of
screwing every last penny out of the population.
Their latest brainchild, as I mentioned briefly in earlier
my piece on ‘National Poo Day’ – is regarding the new legislation which will
make it ‘compulsory’ for all dogs in England and Wales to be ‘microchipped’ by
April 2016.
Featured on page 8 in this week’s Reporter, an Ashton Pet
Store has welcomed the news!
I bet they welcomed the news at £15.00 per dog! And if you
prefer taking your pet to your local private veterinary clinic, the costs can
rise rapidly to somewhere between £20 and £30.
But it doesn’t stop there! You then have to have that chip
registered
In the article, Store Manager Allan Ferries said, “Microchipping
is a fool-proof method of keeping your pets safe!” Now that’s a very bold statement,
and one that a reader from Gee Cross would find little comfort in, on finding
that her beloved pet cat had been knocked down and left for dead on Stockport
Road, Gee Cross.
How would a microchip have saved her cat?
I concede that ‘Microchipping’ is probably the most
effective way of identifying a lost pet, but it won’t keep it immune to
accidents, and it’s not fool proof!
Another issue that competing microchip companies forget to
mention is that different microchip businesses use different frequencies to
send signals to scanners, and until recently there was no universal scanner
that could read all the different frequencies.
The article conveniently failed to mention that you will also
have to update the chips information if you were to move house. In which case you
need to contact the company that registers the chip to update your information;
otherwise, the chip will be useless.
This will also incur a small fee to process the update!
So come April 2016, don't be surprised if you see hundreds more abandoned ‘unchipped’
dogs wandering the streets!
Microchips are great when they work. This is why you can not jeopardize the trust pet owners place in you when you tag their pet. Get your material from the best, get it from Microchip Direct.
