A SAD TALE OF A BROKEN PROMISE

I heard from a young lad the other day who told me that his parents had asked him what he wanted most of all for Christmas. They said whatever he wanted; they'd make sure he got it. So, after giving it serious thought, he’d asked them for a new bike.

That was over 2 years ago he said, but so far there’s still no sign of his bike!

He told me that after months of pleading as to when his new bike would materialise; and despite their constant reassurance that he was going to get one, they told him that the delay was because they couldn’t decide what kind of bike to get him.

His Mum told him that a BMX was too dangerous and that he should have one with stabilisers.

However, he said his Dad thought that was rubbish and said that his Mother is just mollycoddling him.

Apparently, it’s now got so bad that they are both up night after night arguing about it.

When he complained about the situation, they said that when he chose to have a new bike, he had no idea what he was asking for, or how extremely difficult it would be to get a bike that satisfied them both.

They now say that it might not be possible to get me a bike, but they are thinking about giving me a second chance to choose my present.

I hate having politicians for parents.
