If proof were needed that there's a lot of folk in the wrong job pretending to do stuff they're incapable of doing... this ‘tweet’ must rank very near the top of the list!
Conservative MP Scott Mann, who represents North Cornwall,
wrote on Twitter: “Every knife sold in the UK should have a GPS tracker fitted
in the handle. It’s time we had a national database like we do with guns.”
According to official figures, last year, 21,484 offences of
possessing or making threats with blades or offensive weapons resulted in a
conviction or caution.
However, even if it was possible for the government to
actually ‘chip’ knives; with an estimated 300million ‘knives’ in households throughout
the UK, how many extra resources would be needed to monitor the movement of these knives?
This idiotic ‘tweet’
has demonstrated that much of today’s penchant for self-indulgent, ill-thought communication
is majoritively shallow and non-reflective. Even amongst politicians!
The fact that
this laughable "politician" draws a salary and huge expenses from the
public purse is scandalous!
